Diaper Drive in partnership with Assemblywoman Laurie Davies to benefit the Food Bank’s Diaper Bank Program.
San Diego, CA (July 5, 2024) – The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and its North County Food Bank chapter held a Community Diaper Drive in partnership with Assemblywoman Laurie Davies on Friday, June 28. More than 10,000 diapers were collected to support low-income parents in San Diego County, including military families in North County. Donors showed their support by dropping off diapers at two North County locations in Vista and Oceanside. The San Diego Food Bank’s Diaper Bank Program has been a reliable resource for low-income families over the last seven years. Since its inception, the program has distributed more than 35.4 million diapers.
The San Diego Food Bank started the first state-funded Diaper Bank Program in 2017 to help provide much-needed diapers to low-income parents, helping them to remain employed, provide for their families, and lift themselves out of poverty.
The Diaper Bank Program in San Diego County received $3.6 million in funding from the State of California to support it for three years, which expired June 30, 2024. Last week, the Food Bank received news that partial State funding had been approved to support the program in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, but there is still a gap in funding to meet current operational needs.
Online donations are being accepted through the San Diego Food Bank here. Donations from the community will further support the San Diego Food Bank’s efforts to help families receive assistance during times of need.
