The San Diego Food Bank welcomed a special delivery on Monday, August 25, as the San Diego Seals and Hollandia Dairy donated 800 gallons of milk through the team’s ongoing Gallons for Goals program. San Diego Seals forwards Wes Berg and Tre Leclaire, along with members of the Sirens Dance Team, joined Hollandia Dairy CEO Patrick Schallberger for the morning event at the Food Bank’s Miramar warehouse.
Gallons for Goals, launched during the 2021-22 season, donates multiple gallons of fresh milk to the San Diego Food Bank for every goal scored by the Seals at home games. This year’s 800 gallons alone provides more than 12,000 servings, benefiting the more than 400,000 San Diegans we serve each month. Milk is one of the most requested items at food banks nationwide and is a key source of protein and essential nutrients, particularly important for growing children.
We rely on partnerships like this to provide essential nutrition to local families in need. Previous seasons saw donations of 650, 800, and 840 gallons, demonstrating how sports teams, local businesses, and nonprofits can collaborate to make a meaningful impact in the community, ensuring that families have access to healthy foods.
