Kimberley Layton joined the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank in early 2023 as the Chief Advancement and Communications Officer. An accomplished civic and private sector trailblazer, Kimberley has more than 30 years of diversified experience in fast paced environments with a commitment to leadership and service. Most recently, Kimberley spent 23 seasons with the Chargers, serving as Vice President of External Affairs. In this role she created and implemented all new community, corporate and governmental programming as well as leading the complete restoration and rebuilding of the team’s foundation – the Chargers Impact Fund.
Her public service roles include serving as Director of Intergovernmental Relations for the City of San Diego, guiding the City’s legislative agenda in Sacramento and Washington D.C. and serving as Chief of Staff during the Golding administration, responsible for overseeing and advising on all major policies and proposals affecting the City of San Diego. Kimberley began her career working for State Senator Lucy Killea, eventually directing all district operations for the Senator and working on related legislation in Sacramento,
Kimberley received her degree from the University of California at Irvine and currently serves on the UCI Alumni Association Board of Directors. She is past President of the San Diego Bowl Game Association which produces the annual Holiday Bowl; is a member of Rotary’s Club 33 and serves on numerous boards and organizations in San Diego and Orange County.
Kimberley was recently selected by Girl Scouts San Diego as one of their Cool Women honorees and as a Woman of Dedication by the Salvation Army. She is a winner of the San Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business award and has twice been named one of the “50 to Watch” by San Diego Magazine. Kimberley has also received numerous community awards including the annual High School Sports Association’s Community Service Award for her service to the region’s children.
