Volunteers Are the Heart of Our Mission
Every Hour Makes a Difference
Looking for a meaningful way to give back in San Diego? Every day, thousands of people across the county rely on the San Diego Food Bank for meals and support — and volunteers make that work possible.
Join a community of more than 15,000 volunteers who lend their time each year to sort, pack, and distribute millions of pounds of food. Just a few hours of your time can help bring nourishment and hope to local families.

Here’s a quick checklist for a great experience:
Pre-Registration
Create an account to view our volunteer calendar and sign up for shifts online.
Age Requirements
The minimum age to volunteer is 11. Youth (ages 11-15) are welcome with a registered adult, while those 16 and older may volunteer independently.
Timeliness
Please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure a smooth check-in process.
