As the government shutdown continues, we understand this time can bring uncertainty and concern for many households. Beginning November 1, CalFresh (EBT/SNAP) cards will not be reloaded until the government shutdown ends or funding is secured.
The San Diego Food Bank is here to help. If you or someone you know needs food assistance, use our GPS Food Locator Map to find a nearby distribution site. Our network of 450+ nonprofit partners and direct distribution sites remain fully operational and ready to serve San Diegans in need.
For up-to-date information about other government-administered benefits, such as Social Security and SSI, Housing Vouchers, WIC, CalWORKs, and more, please visit 211sandiego.org or dial 2-1-1 for assistance.
As the federal government shutdown unfolds, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is standing strong — ready to support San Diegans facing uncertainty. With one of the nation’s largest concentrations of active-duty military and federal workers, San Diego County is especially vulnerable. Thousands of families may face furloughs or missed paychecks, and many are just one paycheck away from needing food assistance.
Food insecurity in our region is already at its highest point in nearly a decade. Nearly 400,000 residents rely on CalFresh monthly, and any disruption in benefits would be devastating. The Food Bank also serves 39,000 active-duty military and veteran family members each month.
Need food assistance during the shutdown? Our GPS Food Locator Map helps residents find nearby food sites, and our CalFresh Outreach team is available to assist with applications and advocacy. We’re also distributing emergency diapers to families in need.
If you or someone you know is impacted, visit SanDiegoFoodBank.org/gethelp or call 2-1-1 for assistance. Supporters can help by donating, volunteering, or hosting a food drive. Every dollar and every hour of service makes a direct impact.
Together, we can ensure no one in our community goes hungry during this critical time.

At this time, funding is available for October benefits, and benefits may be used as usual through October 2025. However, if the shutdown continues past October 23 and no additional federal funding is provided, CalFresh benefits may be delayed in November.
If you need food assistance, you can receive groceries through the Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP) and eligible seniors can receive food through the Senior Food Program. Participation in these programs will not affect CalFresh benefits in any way.
