In honor of the National Diaper Bank Network’s (NDBN) 15th anniversary, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is proud to celebrate a powerful show of support for families across San Diego County: a donation of 250,000 Huggies diapers to strengthen our Diaper Bank Program.
This local contribution is part of an unprecedented national effort by Huggies and NDBN to distribute 15 million diapers in 15 days, marking 15 years of advancing diaper access across the country. We are honored that San Diego County was selected as one of the recipients and grateful that these diapers are already in the hands of our 90 nonprofit partners to be distributed to families who need them most.
As one of 11 state-funded Diaper Banks in California, the San Diego Food Bank is proud to be members of both the National Diaper Bank Network and the California Association of Diaper Banks, working every day to end diaper insecurity and support families in our community.
Diaper need, or the inability to afford enough clean diapers to keep a baby healthy and dry, remains a serious and often overlooked challenge. Diapers cannot be purchased with CalFresh or WIC benefits, yet parents enrolled in subsidized childcare must provide 8-10 clean diapers each day. Without diapers, children cannot attend care, and parents cannot work. It is a cycle that puts family stability at risk.
Since launching our Diaper Bank Program in 2017, the Food Bank has worked to close this critical gap as the regional Diaper Bank. To date, the program has distributed more than 46 million diapers, and in FY25 alone, an average of nearly 8,000 families received diapers each month.
A diaper may seem small, but its impact is profound. Donations like this one help parents stay employed, support children’s health, and give families greater stability.
