The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank has released its Fiscal Year 2024 Annual Report, highlighting a year of tremendous growth, strengthened partnerships, and lasting impact across San Diego County.
With your support, the Food Bank distributed more than 50 million pounds of food and essential supplies, providing nourishment and stability for 400,000 neighbors every month. Fresh produce made up 44% of our distributions, thanks to partnerships with local growers and fisheries, ensuring more families had access to healthy, balanced meals.
Highlights from the year include:
- Expanding our Client Choice Food Pantry, which saw an 86% increase in visits after its enlargement.
- Serving up to 35,500 seniors each month, supplementing USDA food boxes with fresh produce and proteins.
- Growing our Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, which provided 120,000 meals to children over weekends.
- Doubling our Period Supply Program distribution to more than 6 million products, helping women and girls maintain dignity and opportunity.
- Mobilizing nearly 15,000 volunteers, a 23% increase over the prior year, to keep our programs running strong.
Behind each number is a story of resilience, hope, and community. As CEO Casey Castillo shares in the report, “For nearly five decades, we have fought hunger and fed hope across San Diego County. With your continued support, we will nourish our neighbors, strengthen our community, and help families build a brighter future.”
