Amid cuts to federal social safety net programs, we’re proud to share two major funding wins that will strengthen our hunger-relief efforts across San Diego County. Thanks to Governor Newsom and the California State Legislature, CalFood funding has been protected at $60 million for this fiscal year — ensuring more California-grown food reaches families in need.
We’re also deeply grateful to the County of San Diego for awarding us a $500,000 grant, championed by Supervisors Monica Montgomery Steppe and Joel Anderson, with support from Supervisors Jim Desmond and Terra Lawson-Remer. This critical local investment will boost our mobile pantries and neighborhood distributions following USDA food reductions. In a time of growing need, these wins bring stability where it’s needed most — at the family table.
