San Diego, Calif. – Oct. 23, 2007 – The San Diego Food Bank (SDFB), a critical resource for alleviating hunger throughout San Diego County, offers its resources to the non-profit emergency organizations leading the fire victim relief effort in the region. SDFB can provide available warehouse space, food distribution services, community relations with its 260 non-profit charity partnerships across the county, and more.
SDFB encourages its agency partners serving fire victims to use its available food resources. Individuals in need can also be referred by SDFB to its charity partnerships.
With more then 813,000 San Diegans experiencing some form of food insecurity each year, SDFB anticipates a significant increase in need for resources surrounding the wildfires. Donations to the SDFB will be provided to the organization’s charity partners located throughout the county. For more information on how to donate food or get involved, please contact Jim Jackson, SDFB Executive Director at 858-527-1419 ext. 49, or visit www.sandiegofoodbank.org.
