San Diego, Calif – Nov. 20, 2009 – Students at La Jolla Country Day School will donate an estimated 20,000 pounds of food to the San Diego Food Bank at a ceremony with students and school officials. La Jolla Country Day School hosted its annual holiday food drive for the San Diego Food Bank from Nov. 16 to 20 and collected an estimated twenty pounds of food per student – a record breaking amount for a school collection per capita. |

San Diego, Calif – March 5, 2009 – All 57 San Diego County Vons supermarkets will host a one-day “Super Saturday” Food Drive on March 7 to help the San Diego Food Bank which has seen a dramatic decrease in food donations and rise in demand following the recent holiday season. The food drive was initiated and is being coordinated by Vons employees – folks who work every day in local grocery stores and recognized the need to provide hunger relief to fellow San Diegans. Three “store districts” within the county: North, Central and South, each with 19 stores, will hold a friendly competition to collect the most food for the Food Bank. |
