 Hunger knows no season! CBS 8 and Donovan's Steak & Chop House are teaming up with Vons to help fight hunger in San Diego this summer.
Every day, thousands of San Diego men, women and children will go to bed hungry.
And this summer school may be out, but hunger's not! Children who rely on their school meal program for breakfast and lunch will go hungry all summer long. But you can help!
The San Diego Food Bank's most needed items include:
- Canned meat & tuna
- Canned soups
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Peanut butter
- Canned beans
- Spaghetti
- Dry cereal
- Rice
- Mac & cheese
Important note: The San Diego Food Bank cannot accept perishable items or items in glass jars due to food safety regulations.
Food raised from "8's Summer Food Drive" will be distributed to people in need through our 350 partner charities which include: churches, food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, low-income daycare centers, rehabilitation programs and senior centers.
